The "known” and the "unknown” - The past, present and future.
"The best way of taking care of the future is to take care of the present,
because the future is made of the present"
- Thich Nhat Hanh
As we think of the past, maybe because it’s familiar, we remember what happened (thoughts), we remember how it felt (emotions) and we remember what we did (actions). Our thoughts, emotions and actions = how we experience life, that is my belief.
I believe sometimes we think more of the past and the future because we want something different than what we experienced, and we might fear having to relive it. A different thought, a different feeling, a different experience.
I believe sometimes knowingly and unknowingly we avoid looking at the present moment. Perhaps we do this because of the fear of what we might find. The hardships of the past and the fears of tomorrow, right here in this present moment, because what we focus on we feel.
Habit
If we continue this habit of choosing to put one foot in the past and the other foot in the future, then I believe it becomes our reality through our thoughts, our emotions and our actions. In simple terms I believe it becomes our experience of life. If we continue this habit we will have to miss out on the wisdom of the present moment, because there is no focus there.
So I invite myself to these questions. If I continue to live from this place, with one foot in the past and one foot in the future, what becomes inevitable for me to feel and experience? What will I have to look back and see? What experiences will I create for myself, if I continue to choose to live more in my past and/or more in my future than I am in this very moment? If I continue to choose this habit, what will I have to miss out on?
Our memories and the fear of having to relive what once was might overwhelm our thoughts, and so our feelings and so our actions. This is why I chose to stand guard at the door of my mind. To carefully select my thoughts and my focus, and to create from a place of this present moment. To use the wisdom of my past and the dreams of my future as a map to create my thoughts, feelings and actions which ultimately creates my experience of my life. This is my belief and this is my experience.
Here is my invitation to you:
If you decided to remember, that the only moment you can control is this very moment, right here right now. How would that change your thoughts, your feelings and your actions in this very moment?
How would it change the moment, situation or argument you are in, if you decided to be right here, right now, in this very moment with both your feet?
If you decided to be in this present moment, what would you be able to create for yourself, your loved ones and your life?
If you choose to continue the habit of putting one foot in your past and one foot in your future, what will you have to miss out on?
I am here when you are ready to go deeper.
Love,
