Is this the beginning or the end?

Is life happening to me or for me? The truth is that this is actually up to you and me to decide individually. I have certainly given my power of choice and decision away in the past, and I catch myself every once in a while nowadays too, but now it is rare because I became aware, I took action and I have trained that muscle. I know that the power lies within me, because I have created opportunities for myself to experience it and so can you. Change doesn't come from insight alone, it needs to be accompanied by action. So I wish for this to serve you wherever you are on your journey and the meaning you decide to assign to it - is up to you.

As you go about your day things are going to happen to you or for you. This too is up to you to decide.

Let’s pretend you decide that life is happening to you. With this decision you wake up in the morning and you realize that you have overslept. What are the first thoughts that you become aware of in your mind?

  • F@ing shit

  • I'm gonna be sooo late

  • I'm probably gonna get fired

If this example doesn’t feel true to you then life is happening for you, because then this is not a big deal. Unless it’s a habit of course 😉

Now let’s pretend that you decide that life is happening for you. With this decision you wake up in the morning and you realize that you overslept. What are the first thoughts that you become aware of in your mind now?

  • Mmm a little extra sleepy time for me

  • Now I can finally use that takeaway cup I got for my birthday

  • We haven’t had a team activity outside of work in such a long time, I'm gonna invite my team and boss to a -coffee on me- during lunch today to say “i'm sorry for being late”

Same person, same scenario, different decisions and therefore different experiences. Can you see how we create this for ourselves? This is how powerful you actually are.

I want you to really think about this for a moment and I want to invite you to leave everything you already know in a “made up box” for now. This too is a decision and this decision makes it easier for our mind to see new perspectives. You don’t have to believe me, in fact I don’t want you to believe me. Do it yourself and build that muscle of belief with your own experience. You can ask yourself a little something like this:

  • If I didn’t know what I already know, what would my mind show me that I haven’t yet seen or understood about myself as I think about the examples above?

  • What would be the worst thing that could happen if I looked at this example above with an empty mind?

  • What would be the best thing that could happen?

Now that you have given yourself some time to think and decide, let's go deeper.

What if you decided that life is happening for you instead of to you? What if that was what you decided to believe? What would happen, what would change if you made that decision:

  • What would happen to that old story that you keep telling yourself?

  • What would change in your life and around you?

  • What would happen to that habit of always being late? 😉

  • What would happen to that thing that happened 10 years ago and that meaning you assigned to it that doesn’t serve you anymore?

  • How would you feel that is different from what you feel now, and what would you be able to create from this place?

The key is in the meaning you decide to assign to if life is happening to you or for you. We are good at asking ourselves: Why is this happen to me? But we rarely ask ourselves: Why is this happening for me? Same sentence with 1 change, a word. Of course we can say: this happened to me because I deserve it because I worked hard, but where our mind most often tends to go with this sentence is somewhere negative. It happened because this always happens to me, it happened because I have bad luck etc. Now this is not our fault, this is part of our pre-programmed mind. We have heard our parents say it, our relatives and friends, we have read it in the news or we have seen it on tv etc. So it’s not our fault, but it is our responsibility.

So here are the 3 things I decide to highlight from this:

  1. Whatever I decide I will feel and therefore experience

  2. Whatever I decided creates my destiny

  3. The words I tell myself and others are powerful because of the meaning I assign to them. The meaning creates my feeling and my feeling creates my experience and THIS creates my beliefs that creates the foundation from where I make my decisions that ultimately creates my destiny.

Again, don’t take my word for it. Create your own experience with your own power. Here is my invitation. Do it continuously and with awareness for a week and evaluate. Everytime your mind wants to find reasons why “this is happening to you” your job is to stay guard at the door of your mind and ask a better question: Why is this happening for me? What is this here to show me and teach me? How is this here to serve me and what am I deciding to do and create with it?

If you need guidance or support you just let me know. You can book a FREE discovery call right here and right now if that is the first action you are deciding to take.

I hope my words of today can serve you in some way ♥️
